Basel is the ideal location for international conferences, especially for medium-sized events. The collaboration with the Messe and Congress Center Basel was excellent.
In May 2023, Basel became the center of travel medicine when the 18th Congress of the International Society of Travel Medicine (CISTM) was held at the Congress Center Basel. Together with Prof. Dr. Hatz from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and Basel Tourism, we successfully brought this major congress to the city, welcoming around 1,200 participants.
The five-day congress offered an excellent scientific program, complemented by a variety of leisure activities that encouraged interactive exchanges among attendees. Prof. Dr. Hatz expressed great satisfaction with the outstanding support provided by the team at the Messe and Congress Center Basel, which was instrumental in the event’s success.
Key factors in choosing Basel as the host city were its central location in Europe, the perfectly suited facilities for this congress, and Switzerland’s leading role in the field of travel medicine.
