We’ve already launched our countdown to the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), which is set to transform Basel into a mecca of the European music scene from 10 to 17 May 2025. The contest kicks off with the popular Opening Ceremony in our MesseQuartier Basel (MQ) on 11 May. The ESC Community is eagerly awaiting this prominent opening event, at which all the delegations are to be presented, and will be celebrating in style.

At the media event of 20 January 2025, it was announced that Hazel Brugger, Michelle Hunziker and Sandra Studer will be hosting the ESC 2025 in Basel. They embody the Swiss ESC motto of “Welcome Home” in a congenial manner and represent the values that define Switzerland: openness, diversity and a sense of togetherness. Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer will also be presenting the two semi-final shows. Mélanie Freymond and Sven Epiney will host the pre-shows and public viewing in the Arena Plus and will also announce the Swiss points during the Grand Final.

While the live shows are being held in the St. Jakobshalle, the MQ will serve as the central location for all the cult events surrounding the contest. Our Hall 1 will be home to the Eurovision Village where fans and followers will find live concerts, public viewing, and food and drinks stands. In the Event Hall, the EuroClub & Café will be inviting fans to dance and celebrate. And in Basel city centre, a unique atmosphere will be created by the Eurovision Square, Eurovision Boulevard, Eurovision Street and the Kleinbasel Riviera among other locations. Further information is available on our MQ website and the city of Basel’s official website.
